CoomeChat Help Center
Answers to what people actually ask about random video chat here: starting a call, camera permissions, skipping, staying anonymous, what costs coins, and what to do when something goes wrong.
CoomeChat has no accounts and no password to recover, so most problems come down to browser permissions or connection quality. If someone behaved badly on a call, use the report button while you are still in it. That reaches a moderator; an email after the fact is much harder for us to act on.
1. Starting Your First Chat
What happens between opening the page and talking to someone.
How do I start a random video chat?
Open CoomeChat and tap the start button. Your browser asks for permission to use your camera and microphone. Allow it, and within a few seconds you are in a live call with someone who is online right now. You will not be asked to install anything or to fill in a form before that happens.
How long does it take to get matched?
Usually a few seconds. How long it takes depends on how many people are online when you tap start, so evenings tend to connect faster than early mornings. If you are still sitting on the matching screen after a minute, reload the page and start again.
Do I need to download an app?
No. CoomeChat runs in a browser tab on Android, iPhone, tablet and desktop. If you want it to behave like an installed app, open your browser menu and add it to your home screen. It will then launch full screen the way an installed app does, without ever going through an app store.
Which browsers and devices work?
Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, and the browsers built on them. Anything current enough to handle camera and microphone access will run CoomeChat. If your browser is several versions behind, video calling may not start at all. Update it before assuming the site is broken.
2. No Account, No Profile
CoomeChat works without sign-up, which changes what support can and cannot do.
Do I need to register or give an email?
No. CoomeChat never asks who you are. You are not asked to register before the first call, and nothing about you is left behind after it.
Can the other person see my name or find me later?
There is no name for them to see, because we never asked you for one. They also have nowhere to go looking: the service has no profile pages and no way to search for a past match. Whatever the other person learns about you is what you chose to say or show.
Is my conversation saved anywhere?
No. A conversation is not stored once it ends. When you skip or close the call, that chat is over for both of you, and no history page exists to go back to. The Privacy Policy sets out the limited technical data the service does process.
I forgot my password. How do I get back in?
There is no password on CoomeChat, so nothing needs recovering. Open the page and start again. If you are trying to recover a password, you are probably thinking of a different service.
3. Camera, Microphone & Permissions
Almost every "it does not work" report comes down to a browser permission.
My camera shows a black screen.
Something else already holds the camera. A video call in another tab, a recording tool, or a second CoomeChat window will each do it. Close them, then reload the page. On a laptop, check that a physical shutter or privacy slider is not covering the lens.
I blocked the camera by mistake. How do I allow it again?
In Chrome, tap the icon at the left of the address bar, set Camera and Microphone to Allow, then reload. In Safari on iPhone, open Settings, find the browser, and turn Camera and Microphone back on for the site. The permission prompt only appears once, so after a block you have to change it in settings.
The other person cannot hear me.
Microphone permission is granted separately from camera permission, so check that both are allowed and not just the one. Then check your device is not muted. A connected headset or Bluetooth speaker will also capture the microphone input instead of the one you expect.
Can I use CoomeChat without turning my camera on?
No. Camera is required. Audio-only calls are not supported.
4. Matching, Skipping & Who You Meet
How pairing works and what it deliberately does not do.
How do I move on to the next person?
Tap skip. The call ends at once and a new match starts within seconds. No explanation is needed and the other person does not have to agree. Leaving a call is always one tap away.
Can I choose who I get matched with?
No. Matches are drawn at random from whoever is active at that moment. We do not offer filters for gender, country or language, and we would rather say that plainly than imply a choice you do not have.
Can I get back to someone I just skipped?
No. Once a call ends, that person is gone for good, because nothing recorded who they were. If you want to stay in touch, agree on it while you are still talking.
Is this a group room or a live stream?
Neither. Every match is a private call between two people. Nobody is watching, there is no room to join, and nothing you do on a call is broadcast anywhere.
5. What Is Free and What Is Not
Being straight about where the free part ends.
Is CoomeChat free?
It is free to start. Everyone gets free matches on joining, with no credit card and no sign-up, so your first video chats cost nothing. Coins and optional extras exist beyond that.
What are coins for?
Coins pay for optional extras on top of the free matches you start with. Opening the site does not need them and neither does a normal one-to-one video chat. You are not asked for payment details before your first call.
Am I charged per minute?
No. Calls are not metered by the minute, and nothing starts charging you quietly in the background. Anything you pay for is something you decided to buy.
I paid and something went wrong.
Email support with the date, the approximate time, the amount, and the payment method you used. Include the transaction reference if your bank or wallet shows one, because that is what lets us trace the charge without an account to look you up by.
6. Blocking, Reporting & Safety
The controls on every call, and what happens after you use them.
Someone is behaving badly. What do I do right now?
Skip. One tap ends the call, and you never have to argue with anyone or sit through something uncomfortable to make it stop. Then report them. Skipping removes the person from your screen but does not flag what they did.
How do I report someone?
Use the report control on the call screen. It sits there during every call, next to skip and block. Reporting from inside the call attaches the technical details of that session to your report; an email sent hours later arrives without them.
I saw nudity, or someone who looked underage.
End the call and report it. Both are prohibited under our Community Guidelines. Underage users and sexual content aimed at people who did not ask for it are the two things we act on hardest, and neither gets a warning step.
What happens after I report someone?
The report goes to moderation for review. Outcomes range from a warning to permanently blocking that person from the service. We will not tell you which one it was. Your outcome would be private too, if someone reported you.
How do I keep myself safe on a random video chat?
Keep your full name, address, workplace and social handles to yourself, along with anything that identifies where you live. Never send money to someone you met here, however convincing the story sounds. And remember that the person opposite can record their own screen, so treat what you show on camera as something that could be kept.
7. Connection, Data & Device Issues
Try these before writing in. Most take under a minute.
The video is laggy, frozen or low quality.
Live video needs a steady connection more than a fast one. Move closer to your router, or to better signal. Close other apps that are streaming or downloading. On a weak mobile connection, switching to Wi-Fi fixes it more often than anything else.
The page is stuck loading or the call never connects.
Reload the page first. If that fails, the network may be blocking the traffic video calls need. Office, campus and hotel Wi-Fi are the usual culprits. Open the same page on mobile data to find out in under a minute whether the network is the problem.
How much mobile data does a video chat use?
Live two-way video is among the heaviest things a phone does. On a capped plan, a long session will show up on your allowance. Use Wi-Fi if your data is limited.
The page looks broken or an old version keeps loading.
You are looking at a cached copy. Reload the page. If it persists, clear the site data for CoomeChat in your browser settings and open it again.
8. Contact Support
If none of the above solves it, email us. We cannot look you up by name, because there is no account carrying one. So tell us what you can: what you were doing, roughly when it happened, which browser and device you were on, and a screenshot if you have one. For anything another user did, the in-call report button gets there faster than email.
